Case Study (The Elevator)

Notes from 'The Elevator'
camera shots- Close up shots, cut in shots. Show detail in floor level and also used to show the focus of protagonists view. shows emotion on the face of protagonist.
Music- use of normal annoying elevator music, only one use of dialogue. Crashing sound for when elevator dropping and crashing.
Use of slow motion- when last very fat person walks towards elevator shows danger, also jaws music plays, signifies danger with the last very heavy person coming on the elevator. Used as well when man sneezes into back of protagonists head- shows the sneeze projection onto his head.
At the end of the short film, there is a mix of both cut in shots and swish pan shots as the man notices the sign directing the sick people of whom he were previously in the elevator with. The sign is hugely significant, as it enables the man to recognise that he has been in the elevator with ill persons and that he isn't having a very lucky day with his elevator choices. The encounters with all the heavy people and then all the ill people is basically a simplifying of every persons worst nightmare inside an elevator. The mid-shot camera view emphasises the uncomfortable feeling inside the elevator and shows the claustrophobic environment the man is in.
The overall simplicity of the short film is what actually made it effective, some films that can be just so telling of high hollywood quality with big actors in place but this is very good for the lower quality of camera and such behind it and the story that it poses is very intriguing and actually something everyone can relate to.
